Lipo contouring

We offer Body Contouring procedures using the BodyTite Platform from Invasix.
This technology utilises RadioFrequency energy to heat the skin and subcutaneous tissues before, during and after liposuction. RadioFrequency technologies have been used in medicine for more than 50 years and are completely safe in the right (trained) hands.

Using simple liposuction alone can leave skin which is loose and flaccid after the removal of the volume of fat. With BodyTite, these tissues are heated in a controlled, safe way which causes both immediate and long term contraction of the tissues and overlying skin.

How does Bodytite work?

Treatment is carried out under strict asepsis ( surgically clean) in a theatre environment. Local anaesthesia is used, there is no need for sedation.
After signing a consent form, antibiotics are given, the area is marked and photographs taken. Careful measurements are also made. In the case of abdominal treatment, weight is also recorded. It is important to remember that body contouring is excellent for just that. It isn’t an excuse to let go ( and eat all the pies)!

Local anaesthetic is slowly, carefully infused into the area to be treated. The BodyTite cannula is then inserted and the area is gently, carefully heated to both melt the fat and start the process of contraction in response to heat.
After that, liposuction is carried out using a variety of cannulae depending on the area treated.
Once the fat has been removed, steri strips are used to close the tiny wounds ( no stitches are needed) and dressings applied. The area can look swollen for a week or two but then gradually starts to contract.

What is Radiofrequency energy?

Radiofrequency Energy has been safely used for over 50 years in medicine now. It is a heat producing energy at the long wave end of the electromagnetic spectrum, light being at the other.

We use it in medicine to heat tissues safely and precisely. It is used by Cardiologists to ablate (remove by burning) accessory pathways in heart tissues when there are abnormal rhythms, it’s used by Gynaecologists to precisely remove the lining of the uterus when heavy bleeding occurs before the menopause and it is used every day in most surgical operations to control bleeding. When RF is used in these situations, tissues heat up and contract and it is this very contraction that is exploited in using the BodyTite (FaceTite & NeckTite) Platforms.

When used as a resurfacing tool in Fractora, it not only removes very precisely the superficial layer of skin, it also causes immediate and long term contraction which imparts a smoother tighter effect in the weeks that follow.
This same energy is used painlessly in FORMA to cause gradual effective tightening of the skin of the face.

And afterwards?

The ports in the skin through which the liposuction procedure is carried out are very tiny (about 3mm) and don’t require sutures. Micropore tape is applied after the procedure to keep the wounds closed (and these should have closed within 24 hours). Dressings are applied and Lipo compression garments are provided. These garments aid the contouring process, and should be worn as much as possible over the first two weeks, and then at night until 6 weeks after the procedure. There will be some discomfort as the local anaesthetic wears off, it will feel as though the area has had a very serious exercise workout, and this will ease over a few days. If needed, paracetamol can be taken, but not ibuprofen. There may be some residual numbness in the area which lasts for a few weeks. A prophylactic dose of antibiotics will be given, and should be continued until the course is completed.
During the few hours immediately after the procedure, there will be loss of fluid through the small ports, this is perfectly natural, as part of the bodytite process requires that fluid containing local anaesthetic is injected into the sub-dermal area. Some of this is removed with the liposuction, but the remainder leaves through the ports or is processed by the body.
You should avoid strenuous exercise for the two weeks following the procedure, but should take care to keep active.
There is an immediate loss of fat volume following the procedure. However as this process requires the body to recover from the heating to the skin by laying down of collagen, tightening will continue and the full effects of the treatment will not be seen until 4-6 months after the procedure.
At follow up, we will treat any uneven contours with BodyFx, (the non invasive fat removal and RF skin tightening device).

"No matter how toned and fit I was, I could not shift my 'mummy tummy'; it was not bad enough for a tummy tuck, so Bodytite was a perfect solution reducing the wobble right away and then over time leaving my skin looking much firmer"
